Production Log Part 1 - Photography Planning

Production Log Part 1 - Photography Planning

For my magazine photography, I will ensure that various different element will be incorporated into these photos, in order to capture the aesthetic, they aim to express.

My photoshoot is arranged to take place on Sunday the 19th of October, over 8 weeks before the deadline, which gives me an ideal foundation to build my content from, as well as giving me more than enough time to complete this content.

January Issue

Within my January issue, I will ensure to dress my models in warmer and more layered clothing, in order to immerse my readers within the winter season most effectively.

Secondly, in regard to the setting, in order to create a more quintessentially wintery atmosphere, these photos are likely to be set in an outdoor area, particularly in my local dog-walking area.

Therefore, I will have to avoid the connotations of autumn, which will be prominent at the time the photos are taken. Therefore, I will attempt to avoid stereotypically autumnal elements, such as orange or fallen leaves, and to find an area with stronger connotations of winter, such as leafless trees.

Furthermore, I plan to use certain extra props, such as drinks flasks, and even hats, scarves, and gloves, in order to connote the themes of cosiness and staying warm, which are both stereotypical of the winter season, yet with elegance and style.

Finally, I plan to edit these photos with hints of blue, an element that should further help to immerse my readers into the winter spirit.

February Issue

Within my February issue, I will ensure to include a male and female model together, in order to immerse my readers within the occasion of Valentines Day most effectively.

Secondly, in regard to the setting, in order to create a more intimate and romantic atmosphere, these photos are likely to be set in an indoor area, particularly in my local dog-walking area.

Furthermore, I plan to edit these photos with a reddish/pinkish effect, further connoting the themes of love and passion, stereotypical with this period.

However, I want to ensure that the February issue is not overwhelmingly Valentine’s-oriented.

Therefore, in other photos, I will use a similar template to that of the January issue – warmer clothing, a winter-based setting, and using editing tools to further connote the season.
